Pretty Sure Marc Jacobs Beauty Have Won At Christmas Glam

Listen, I’m not always one to fall for a Christmas hype. No who am I kidding I totally fall for a Christmas makeup range hype! Especially when they’re kitsch, cute, vintage yet somehow modern, timeless all year round colours and gives you that squeal of excitement when you open the box to reveal. I do have to be honest though, not a lot in recent years has given me that super excited *pang* of joy like I used to get as a teenager – until now. Enter the Marc Jacobs’ Beauty collection for 2020, the Very Merry Cherry range. I’m not the only one to have gotten excited about this either, on the day it dropped on Trendmood, it had almost 80k likes. Major. Let’s delve in.

I just love a brand that takes a risk. A brand that doesn’t give us the same old warm toned gold eyeshadows in a sparkly palette for Christmas. A brand that says, okay, this is what we’re gonna do and we believe in it. Everything about Very Merry Cherry feels sincere, feels genuine and above all – it doesn’t look out of place in the Marc Jacobs lineup. It’s mint, it’s fabulous and it’s unique. It’s an utter statement. If you’re new to Marc Jacobs beauty, welcome. I have become quite familiar with a lot of their products over the years, however there is one I was still yet to try until Very Merry Cherry… one of the coveted eyeshadow palettes! So let’s start with that.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eye Palette in ‘Cherrific’* (pr gift)

Their palette packaging has been iconic for a while, finding it’s place on some of the most famous catwalks, celebrities and supermodels side tables’ in the world. When Marc Jacobs Beauty first launched in 2013, it was one of the most wished for products in the range, let alone in Sephora. I can’t believe I hadn’t tried one until now! Actually, I can, they cost £40, so it’s absolutely not a cheap buy. Sitting among the pricier end of product available in Harvey Nics, it’s most certainly a treat. However, it packs a punch – and not a punch in an off putting way either. Do you ever find some eyeshadows are so chalky, so packed full of pigment that they are impossible to blend, and instead just splotch all over your face? Not these. These are buttery, buildable, subtle but still colourful, and can be used in so many versatile ways I instantly fell in love. I mean of course, this should be a Christmas gift for you (it’s been a rough year, no judgement) but if you were looking to buy this for someone as a gift, this is for the person who knows their makeup, and isn’t afraid to rock a red, as this palette leans cherry toned.

While the Marc Jacobs Beauty Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eye Palette in ‘Cherrific’* (pr gift) seems fairly neutral in the respect of how bold and bright a lot of palettes are these days, this is definitely for those that lean toward warmer tones on the eyes. It packs a punch with the cherry theme, and has an underlying warm tone to all the shades. As it has seven shades, I’d recommend this as a gift for that mate who knows makeup, but needs to expand their collection. That being said, I am a woman who has a thousand palettes and I still find uniqueness and charm in this one. It has three incredible shimmer shades, that add dimension and sparkle without going too overboard, and there’s four satin matte shades. You could easily keep this fairly relaxed, and you could dial it right up for drama too.

There’s something about warm berry shades at Christmas time that just suit my pale skin so nicely. Actually, they suit all skin tones, and this palette is definitely an all rounder. Something that really stands out for me in the collection is the introduction of a new shade of their classic O!Mega All Over Foil Luminizer with a Very Merry Cherry edition* (pr gift) being a warm, shimmery, sparkling gold. I have a couple of these highlighters and they are honestly incredible. They are huge for one, so will last you forever – even the most seasoned highlighter addict would struggle to use this up! – and they are incredibly versatile, you can use them all over your body too. A brush on the shoulders or chest for that Christmas Zoom will add all the sparkle to your video calls!

You may have spotted another product lurking in the background of my photos… ill get to that and why I included it in just a moment! First up though, there are two other items in this range, there’s a gorgeous red lipstick – the Le Marc Creme Lipstick – and a mascara, the Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. I do have the mascara, but honestly my brain is mush at the moment and I forgot to include it or try it. Lol. (Some blogger?!) However, I have tried the Marc Jacobs O!Mega Lash mascara, it features in this post here – and it is so good, not too wet, brush is just the right size, but drama is added to the lashes. So, quite frankly if that’s what they’re capable of I have no doubt in my mind that this mascara is fab too.

Anyway, on to the other product. The Very Merry Cherry range has a whole bunch of gift sets, featuring hero products from the rest of the range. They also vary in price point, so there’s a little something for every budget. A common denominator in two of the gift sets is the Re(cover) Hydrating Coconut Lip Oil* (pr gift). I included this because this is a wonderful product, right now we are all confined to our homes and stuck with no Christmas parties, so a lip oil is something that’s universally needed, and a useful product to give as a gift. This doe foot applicator feels luxurious, soft and a hydrating formula with coconut and vitamin E helps to nourish the lips. I’m obsessed with it.

So there’s a little look at the Marc Jacobs Very Merry Cherry range for Christmas 2020, what are your thoughts on this unique, bold holiday collection? Will you be treating yourself or a loved one to any of it as gifts?
